Hello Folks,

Here is my new song! (What no preamble? No extensive explanation? No page of drivel to introduce it? No No No I am turning over a new leaf.... well I was....but then this, preamble about why there is no preamble )

If you are interested then you can get it here ----> Home and Dry

And (you should never start a sentence with and!) because it is usual that peeps can't get my English accent (or my diction is abysmal) then here are the lyrics

Home and Dry

v1
I thought that this time things would work
My way this time, but no
Again I'm left with pain and hurt
And nowhere left to go
Just tell me what I did so wrong
What did I do to you
I've blamed myself for far to long
I should be blaming you

chorus
You never broke me, but you awoke in me
This feeling, and I ain't gonna cry
Although I'm shaken you'd be mistaken
If you think you're home and dry.

v2
You thought that I would always be
Content to follow you
But what you've always failed to see
Is I've been watching you
You've always had the upper hand
Now all your tricks I'll try
This time I'm gonna make a stand
This time it's you who'll cry

Chorus

v3
I know that you think things will work
Your way this time, but no
You're gonna share the pain and hurt
Before I let you go
You'll see that this time you were wrong
And this I'll show to you
I've blamed myself for far to long
So now I'm blaming you.

Chorus to end.

One thing I will say is that I am experimenting using the vocal harmony on the Tyros and use it for the chorus in this song. Standard duet setting and I think it sounds acceptable (although any glitches are entirely down to my clumsy fingering and not the TY I am sure )

Hope you enjoy it
Best wishes
Tony

Hi Tony, thanks for posting your latest Tyros tune. Curious what brand/model near field monitor speakers you used to mix the song on, as the audio quality: vocals crisp & clear & easily understood sound really good, but 'only AFTER' I had to turn my subwoofer's volume 'WAY DOWN' from normal (detent). This was in stark constrast to Rich Child's songs, as well as commercial CD's, where the EQ & bass sound balanced with the subwoofer volume set at detent (neutral). Tony, your vocal clarity has really improved trmemendously, and though I appreciate you supplying the lyrics, it was'nt required (for me) this time.

Nice beat, feel, and message. You really are becoming quite a tunesmith. Hope you're actively shopping your songs because I can imagine kd Lang doing this tune and making it a hit.

Scott

Another Winner here Tony!

You really must commercialise your talent.

Singer,Songwriter,High Quality Sound Engineer.!!

I particularly liked the way you used the Tyros Vocal Harmony, i.e. just a dash of dual on fixed phrases, it was just right.
The song is beautifully engineered and presented. I agree that some top artists like KD Lang would love to sing this one.
cheers

lol Tony!

No intro necessary either! I've got my morning brew (running late, it's just after midday now) and on my 3rd listen...

Great song, really enjoyable!

Those vocals are really crisp... 'Although I'm shaken you'd be mistaken', great line. Nice chord progression on the first line of each verse.

Masterful and effective use of the harmonizer, not over-used, sounds really good... as if you actually recorded that part yourself.

Thanks Tony for sharing your music, looking forward to your next number!

All the best,
Rich

Thanks Guys
Really pleased you like this one.

Scott,
I think I am going to have to invest in a set of 'proper' monitors. At the moment I am using Edirol MA-10A's. I got them for a song off ebay a while ago. I think my mixing has improved since getting them (as opposed to using generic pc speakers before) but I have noticed that there tends to be some difference in how songs sound on them to how they sound on different systems. I think I am going to have to get Rich up to sort my setup out (and he can give me voice lessons while we are at it! ) I will even make him a brew and a biscuit for his trouble

I have not sent a song away for eons, in fact not since I first started writing really. I have this thing (obsession) that my presentation let's the song down! When I win the lottery I will get my songs pro recorded by session muso's and then send them off (Fancy a job? )

Eddie,
Thanks for your kind words.
I am really pleased with how the Vocal Harmony came out. I have to say that not all the settings sound quite as natural with my voice. I think it depends on the voice going in and it's pitch. For instance the setting 'Country Girls' which I adore really sounds terrible when I use it. The girls don't sound like any girls I ever heard before (with the possible exception of Hilda Baker on on helium)

Rich,
You are too kind!
Don't worry about the morning brew at midday! I have just got up myself at 12.30 (but I was out until 6.45am dropping some friends off at Manchester Airport!)

I love that chord progression! If I am entirely honest it appears in two of my fave songs to play 'As Long As He Needs Me' and 'Every Time We Say Goodbye'. Now what I want to know is do I describe my use of the progression as flagrant plagerism or maybe as 'inflenced by'

Thanks again for the feedback. It is strange but I tend to like some of my stuff much better than others, even from the start. I really liked this one BUT that is usually the kiss of death as no-one tends to share my enthusiasm for my faves. SO I am especially happy that this one got such a good response.

Best wishes to you
Tony

Tony,

That by far was the Best song I have heard you perform overall. Quality music, vocals, harmony really shines since you are playing the TYROS! I knew you would climb to the top with this KB!! Good Luck my friend!

PS ......maybe someday you can RE-Record your hit single......

"Why Can't I Sing Like Donny Pesce"

.....using the Tyros? I love that song & listen to it often!!

Play Well!

Thanks Donny,

I appreciate the feedback. It is strange but people keep saying the 'clarity' of my stuff is better since getting the TY. I am slightly surprised as I initially thought the new stuff was not up to the standard of the stuff done on the 9000PRO. I think this was because I could not (after hours of tweaking) get the same feel (soundwise) when I got the Tyros.

I think I was so used to the Pro and how it sounded (or rather how I sounded through it) that anything else seemed strange by comparison. I am very relieved to hear that people seemed to find the sound preferable and not sub standard.

I will indeed re-record 'Why Can't I sing like Donny Pesce'. If I remember rightly the original was drowned in reverb. It is so long ago that I must have used the KN6000 or even the 5000 to record it. My recording technique was blast it all in at once back then I like to think I have improved just a little since back then. (I hope so anyway the time and money I have spent trying to get a cleaner sound!)

Best to you my friend
Tony
