Is there any call for background music in hotel resteraunts.
I would expect that playing solo piano rather than in arranger style would be the way to go.
Does anybody know if playing piano solo is more desired than keyboard arranger style playing for backround music in hotels.

I do both. when I use an arrange in a dining room, I mostly use grand piano, limited vocals, often play left-handed bass and full keyboard mode. Some venues prefer arranger played this way over just piano.

Works for me!

In more populated areas you can probably get away with doing one thing but I think if you can do it all solo piano, arranger soloist, duos, bands you won't have to turn down any work.

In background setting, I will often mute the drums and all acc instruments except the bass and guitar ... this way I have some bottom, and a little rhythm going, but it primarily sounds like solo piano ...
