I Emailed Yamaha Support & asked them for info on the 9000 PRO Update Version 2.
They told me 1.03 is the latest update,(witch I already new)& that Version 2 Update is up in the air right now because it might
have to be a Hardware update instead of software update, we have no ETA or price of
that at this time. Hmmmmmmmm !!!

What the tech told you is correct about being up in the air right now. However, they are not aware of the retail price list mailed out to the dealers which show the retail price at $99.00. I also spoke with tech support who now say they might only offer a new update to the operating system which would be at no charge or an upgrade which includes the new styles and data base which would have the charge .....or...none of the above.

And the "hardware" upgrade they refer to is probably the yucky little "dongle" they will use to protect it! Its news that there will be a small cartridge plug "dongle" which you need to plug into the scsi port to run the software, thus stopping illegal copying of the s/ware.

Simon I don't Know if you have heard how this rumor about the "dongle" started?
I read on the German forum that a guy in Australia made a joke, without being aware that his joke would spread internationally to all forums(?). He has apologized since.
I wouldn't get to excited about this right now. Lets wait and see.

In the picture supplied in the July Yamaha Portable Keyboard catalog, there is an object very small and hard to see clearly next to the pictures of all the floppy disks and the owners manual. This could be the "dongle" you are talking about. It's not a large enough picture for me to tell what it could be, but it appears to be about the size of the SCSI port.
