I've just got an e-mail from a GB supplier which tells me that they are now selling the Boss BR-864 Digital Multitrack for £250.

At this price, if the amplifier I'm currently trying to fix responds to treatment I might finally bite the bullet and get one.

There's no sign of the Zoom MRS-8 over here yet and I'd be astonished if it comes in at a lower price than this.

I can't find a manual to download anywhere.

So does anyone out there know anything about this device?

I sell the BR-864 recorders at my store. Here in the USA Roland just lowered the price to $395.00. They were $495.00 previously.
My son uses one of these. It is easy to use, has a 128 MB Compact Flash card included, records and plays back drum patterns, has great effects and can record 8 tracks with all those Virtual tracks (I believe 8 per track) available to use. I sell alot of these and they are very reliable.

I have the earlier version and little brother, the 532. It's very easy to use and has some great features. The eight tracks would be great. I think you can only record two tracks at a time, though. Other than that I think it's a dynamite piece of equipment.

Thanks for that, folks.

Two tracks max recording isn't a great problem; I'm in a keyboard / drums / vocals duo so we can't do too much at one time anyhow!

Now to see if the amp is working....
