Hi Folks,
Did some extra side jobs and have enough $ to sell my psr2000 and get a PSR2100. My question is it worth it? I know the 3000 is going to come out but it'll be a year or so before I could raise the cash for that.

Keep your PSR2000. I own the PSR2100, and I got it because the extra money was no sweat, but the PSR2100 has very few advantages:

500kb of flash ram
about 20 new styles that are nothing extraordinar since anyone would share with you to use on your PSR2000.
About 15 new voices, the only really notable ones are the Live! Piano and the new nylon guitars. The harmonica is pretty good.

Nothing else new. The most disappointing thing is that the old styles from the PSR2000 are not revoiced with the new voices. This was disgustingly lazy on the part of Yamaha.

I don't think anyone in your audience who heard you with the PSR2000 would notice that you bought a new keyboard.

The PSR3000 will be an additional $300 or so, and you will get so many extras.

I think that between now and July you should be able to save up the additional money to get a quantum leap improvement.

Let me be emphatic. The PSR2100 is not worth the extra money.

Thanks Guys,
I know I could have gotten the 2100 for $990. Retails$1190. What do you think the lowest price I'll be able to get a 3000 for?

I bet you'll be able to get it for less than $1500. I would presume that $1500 is the most that you're going to pay for the PSR3000. I know that Dano was selling the PSR2100 for less than the going price of $1200 - right when it came out. Contact Dano or George Kaye here on this forum and ask for a confidential quote.

I have a 2000 and played the 2100. There certainly wasn't anything there worth trading or selling the 2000 for. Sometimes we get caught up in wanting the latest. If that's where you're at, then go for it. But for my limited budget, I'd wait for the 3000.

BTW, I bought a Roland VR-760 to compliment my 2k. As an ex-Hammond player, the VR does everything I need. The drawbars are leaps ahead of the 2k virtual drawbars. The electric pianos are great too. The synth section is so versatile. I basically use the 2k for styles and a few sax/flute/string parts now. I think the 2k sounds are pretty much as good as they're gonna get (or need to get) except for one or two sample improvements - not worth the expense anymore.
