thanks

Yes there is a difference in key feel between the two.. The 9000 Pro uses the same keybed from the Yamaha EX-5. It is much sturdier and it has synth action as well... The PSR-9000 key quality if far less than the Pro.

That may be true ... but I sat down with both of them side by side and I didn't notice the difference...
others can comment on their experience too... both keyboards are 2k -3k price range... not like a 300 dollar psr550! that squeak has.
I tryed the psr2000 and it's action is nothing like the 9000 pro or psr9000.... very cheap.
Sit down and play them side by side ...if you get a chance ...or the other pro's here can add their 2 cents... i gave my pennies worth!

rgtaa,
I played the PSR-9000 several times and I don't need to play the 9000 Pro to know how the action is.. I use to own a Yamaha EX-7 and that keyboards keybed was the 61 key version of the 76 that's used for the 9000 Pro.. My 550 cost more than $300.00, and just because I have the 550 doesn't mean I don't know the difference between the feel of the 9k and 9 Pro.

ok Squeak!
But like you just wrote ... you didn't need to try the 9000pro ... to KNOW what it was like! All I suggested he sit down side by side with both and MAKE up his OWN mind! Since obviously your's was made up before you even played the 9000pro... i mean NEVER PLAYED ONE!

As to price of 550 ... look on ebay ...I've seen them the last month going for 300-350 brand new! Sorry ... if i you payed more!

He most certainly should get other people's feedback and read both the pro reviews on both and his actual sitting down with them! That's all i'm suggesting.... At least I sat down with both and played them!

Hello.

I owned the 9000 for 7 months.
Since last december, my kbd for profi gigs is a 9000Pro.
The length and key feel on 9000Pro(the same of Yamaha Pro Synths) is far better than PSR 9000.
Another Tip; Some voices as piano are incomparable.

rgtaa,
The guy asked a simple question as to the quality of key feel between the two.. I answered it accordingly and I know others will agree. Just because I've never sat down with the 9000 Pro doesn't mean I cannot comment on its action. It just happens that one of my former pro synths had the same keybed... Also I play a Yamaha EX-5 DAILY in small recording studio owned by my landlord, and that keyboard has the EXACT SAME KEYS AS THE 9000 Pro... We're not talking about sound quality here.. JUST KEY FEEL..... If his question was related to the sound quality of the 9000 Pro I wouldn't have responded to it... So playing BOTH the EX-5 and EX-7, give me the the ability to comment on the action of the 9000 Pro.. It's that simple... Your little comment about my PSR-550 doesn't even pertain to the question he asked....

You are right... I want toapoligize about the 550 comments... they weren't approprate. Sorry Bro. I guess I love my BABY! And spoke out of my BUTT!

As to the topic at hand ... I have confidence as usual that we will have a good discussion of this topic... (without my off comment's about your keyboard)
I guess it was like instinct... you knock my keyboard... i knock your's... I'm childish at times!
OK... enough crawling on all 4's ... back to the topic ... I look forward to what the others have to say.

Hey I have nothing against the 9k or 9 Pro, and wouldn't in any way talk bad about them.. I think both the 9k and 9 Pro are awsome keyboards... Hell I'd love to have either one of them, but taking care of my wife and my child come first.. That's why I have the 550.... It's easy on the pocket and for the price it still is the best bang for the buck.

Aside from the stiffer, more solid feel of the 9kpro - they keys depress further down than on the psr9k. The feel of the two is definatly different, and the only way I can imagine someone NOT knowing the difference is if they play very, very lightly, and never FEEL the actual resistance factor and the key stroke. I really liked the action on the pro, but didn't like the psr at all.
Remember - I am an old "Rhodes" man - I like to dig in to the keys for expression.

I still think the 9kpro is a GREAT choice for a controller in a larger setup or a stuidio piece. I just have too many other needs for a "live" rig.
