Hello to all....

I did not finish college, hardly got started and but had a friend comment to me the other day that owning my own music store, is like putting myself through college...

I do not have a degree and I'm not able to
read financial reports, but I did visit Guitar Centers Website and read the year end report for 2005. http://phx.corporate-ir.net/phoenix.zhtml?c=105057&p=irol-newsArticle&t=Regular&id=803293&

So, I'm curios to get opinions...

Here's some of the numbers that stand out to me... 65% of business came from new stores opening.

any comments ?

Dan ... that number alone does not tell me anything ... If I read you correctly, you are trying to determine that their business does not come from repeat customers... maybe it doesn't, maybe it does ... I don't think you can determine that from just that number ... it would depend on how many new stores they opened ... I think you would have to look at the sales for each store year to year ...
Unless you're trying to determine something else ?!?!?

I thought I would just put it up for discussion...

I think that GC having to open new stores to keep the sales volumne is interesting..
65% of 400 million in sales last year was from new markets, 35% of business is from stores open more than a year... I find that number low, considering that GC is up to over 140 stores.

I'll be back
