It'll be great to have some user reviews "Beacon Line Array Sound System.
Introducing Beacon – a portable sound system so powerful it can cover a football field. Sound so clear, it can be heard over screaming fans from the front row of the bleachers clear to the back. Pumped up music with three on board 8” woofers keeps the house rocking indoors or out. How did Anchor do it? By using a line array system with eight 4.5” mid-range speakers in a tower combined with three 8” speakers in the base. The patent pending enclosure deploys up to a height of 6 feet and provides a 120 degree pattern of pure sound up to a distance of 500 feet.
Why a line array? Not only is the sound clearer and smoother, but the sound does not blast at the front of the audience and drop off drastically at the back. Conventional wisdom holds that you add additional speakers spread throughout the venue to provide more sound coverage. However, this causes sound waves to ricochet off the hard surfaces and criss-cross over each other to the point where the sound becomes garbled. Line arrays provide a single source for the sound, and are a far superior solution.
The Beacon can be customized with a built-in CD player or up to two built-in 16 channel wireless receivers. Of course, the system is powered with a true AC/DC power supply and the built-in rechargeable battery will go up to 8 hours on a charge.
A telescoping handle, on board wheels, and soft exterior pockets for storage complete the package. No need for a stand.
* Lightweight speaker array - eight 4.5" speakers * Durable case with wheels and retractable handle * Three 8" woofers * 300W AC/60W DC * Proprietary class D Amplifier * True AC/DC, 110/220 power supply * Two universal mic input jacks * Built-in CD and UHF receiver options * Receiver has 16 user-selectable channels * Rugged CD mechanism with blue back-lit display * Two nylon mesh storage bags * "Voice Over" music feature * 110dB @ 1 meter

I called AVguy.com, 1-866-462-8489, regarding what kind of return policy they had on the Beacon 6000. Their reply was whatever was provided by the manufacturer. I then called Anchor Audio, 1-800-784-2300, where I was told that a demo model could be provided through a retailer for a 30 trial.
My gut feel is that this unit sounds very good, tho not as good as the Bose, but it's setup and teardown time being much easier and quicker. Obviously, my gut feel is not good enough. Somebody, preferably some one who owns or has access to the Bose PAS, has to give this baby a listen. It looks good.
A web search shows the unit is also carried by others, including B&H Photo and AudioLink.

Ummmm, sounds like someone in the congregation may not be completely saved yet.

We are renting a very old church from a Methodist conference[they are not gathering there enymore],we been renting for over 10 years, another congregation comes in and starting renting the church 3 nonths ago, that's when we started "loosing" our stuff, they told us they bought the church......[we found out they were lying] NOw the Methodist got in contact with us and we are buying it. Is funny that they [the other congregation] [we gather on Sarturday's they do it on Sunday's] notified us of the robberings 3 days after. We are not saying they did it but....... Anyway, we are buying new equipment now, and wating for the approval and loan from our conference to pay for the Building. ------------------ www.tagworld.com/vicentelopez HE'S COMING, MAKE MUSIC, GET READY!
