Hello,

I have recently received my Ketron SD1. I've been working for about 10 years with Yamaha PSR series keyboards.

With my old Yamaha PSR-740 (and other psr series keyboards) there was a button for turning off all accompainment sections (bass, chords, etc.) except drums. This is one of my most useful functions when playing live and performing a solo instrument with drums only.

I found that on the SD1 there is a way for muting one section at a time. This means that I have to press 3 or 4 buttons for muting the instruments, and 3 or 4 buttons again for bringing them back on.

Is there some equivalent function on the sd1 that with a single button be able to turn off all accompainment sections except drums?

On the yamaha's psr keyboards the button is called "auto accompainment".

Thanks in advance,
Guillermo.

GuillermoRosado,
When using the SD1 normally (with the Arranger), you will have the HOLD button on (LED on). Turning this button OFF (LED off) will disable the entire accompaniment and leave just the drums on. An equivalent can be obtained when playing MIDI files too (drum and bass can be left on while everything else is mutted!).
Hope this helps.
AJ

AJ,

The problem is that even with the HOLD funcion turned OFF, when I play with, for example, piano, the accompainment sections turn on when a chord is played.

How can I turn all sections off even when playing chords and leave only drums on?

Thanks again,
Guillermo.

Push the pianist button located on the far right hand side next to the style settings button, and this should solve your problem.

on my technics I permanently disable any accompaniment parts I do not want with local off.
If you save this setup in a user midi preset, you can switch back and forth muting any part you want permanently from any preset, floppy or hard disk style load just by selecting the appropriate user midi preset. This has the advantage that it always works no matter what other settings or buttons you press on the panel.
Maybe the same principle can be applied to your sd1?

I'm still stuck on this. With or without the pianist function turned on, I just can't have the whole keyboard for live performance with no accompainment sections.

I just want drums and piano for example for all keyboard, and then be able to turn all accompainment sections at the middle of a song.

Is this possible some other way?

Thanks again,
Guillermo.

GuillermoRosado,
I think I now understand what you want to do.
* Do not enable the PIANIST button.

Instead.

* Press SPLIT and press the first key to the left of the keyboard before releasing the split. This will be your new split point (which is actually just that one key!)
* With the HOLD function (OFF), you can now play along the keyboard anyway you see best so long as you do NOT press the first key (which you used to assign the new SPLIT point).
Hope this helps.
Thanks,
AJ

AJ,

Thanks for your response. You may agree with me that during a live performance, doing this kind of procedures will not help at all. From one measure to another there should be easily to turn on accompainment sections with the touch of a single button (just like Yamaha's).

Do you think Ketron will implement this function in a future software release?

I'm now stuck trying to play one voice with the left hand (a bass for example) and a piano with the right hand, and, again, only the drum part of the style with no other accompainment. This is iseful for example, trying to play your own bass section for a jazz kind of music, piano and drums.

Thanks again,
Guillermo.

The only way I know how to do this is to push both up and down volume buttons simultaneously for the chord and accomp. and bass parts leaving only the drum, upper and lower parts with volume. You will notice the parts you turned off as having volumes of 0 on the screen. Now, you can split the keyboard using manual bass or making a program with splits and only the drums will play. Unfortunately, these still requires you to double click the volume buttons of sounds you want off. Once done though, even when you change to other styles, the drums will sound by themselves.
