Has anyone had this problem?, Bug?

I do alot of editing(cut/paste, Step) of my
MIDI drum sequences. This includes copying
tracks from one sequence & pasting to tracks
on another.

When i've done this to a drum sequence & i then save it to ZIP disk or 3.5", the saved
sequence seems to get f*cked up(ie: portions
of the edited track or other tracks are lost
or modified). To get around this i've had to
re-save,re-paste several times & in several
combinations.

Does anyone have any ideas?

Thanks

robert

When you save a single sequence on the MPC 2000 it saves it as a MIDI file. Unfortunately this puts the sequence into a standard format that depending on what you have actually sequence will cause in correct play do to misassigned parameters.
To avoid this save your sequences as "MIDI FILE TYPE 1" this retains the format of the data. If you save your sequence as "MIDI FILE TYPE 0" it runs all the data together.
The selection choice comes up during the save sequence function.

Thanks for the reply, But I have been saving
as MIDI Type1 files. The problem seem to not
happen with all cut/paste/step edit
sessions. Just last night i was able to save
all my edits correctly. IT seems that some
sequences/tracks get into a state where they
sound great on the MPC but get messed up
when saving.

Ex: LAst night, I was able to save correctly
one of the problem sequences. What i did was
this:
- Previously, I was pasting to "track 1"
with no success, cause it would not save
correctly.
- This time i deleted "track 1" and pasted
the beats to "track 15"
- The sequence then saved correctly.
- It seem as though "track 1" was tainted
somehow or had some garbage left on it
from previously recorded material
(even though nothing shows up when
looking at each event with Step Edit)
