Hi all. I wanted to inform everybody that I have changed my User Name as of today. No longer will it be Idatrod but instead it will now be 'keybplayer' minus the apostrophes of course. Thanks to Scott Langholff for bringing my less than ideal old username to my attention. The new username is the same as my Tripod web site username. And of course; keybplayer is a more appropriate name for a Keyboard and in this case - Arranger Keyboard Forum.

The old username was just something off the top of my head and totally nonsensical.

Today I'm a brand new mister ME.

But you didn't have to post multiple posts to bring yourself up to "Member" status again. You could have just asked me to do that for you rather than overburden the BBS with unecessary postings. In the end I have to delete postings to bring the total number down. The more postings there are in this forum the slower it gets.

I will also delete your old username to avoid having dead records.

I'll set your posting total to 562 once you have deleted all those postings you made in order to bump up your status.

See what happens when you have too much time on your hands? The fires here in San Diego County have blanketed this area with heavy smoke so the authorities that be told everyone to stay home and for businesses to stay closed. Any who, thanks Nigel for the info. All my frivolity was for nothing, eh? I deleted those pesky posts and I think I got em' all. You have my permission if you see any more of those stragglers round about to delete them. (As if you need my permission, right? ) They will be the ones with just 'one' word in the message body. Thanks again Nigel. And for enlightening me for future reference in case I or even others think about changing a Username.

Having read what Nigel has posted, perhaps we all should try to cut down on frivolous posts. I'm guilty of carrying on conversations that could be done just as easily with email.
Also, we might go back and delete our previous posts that have no real relevance or reason to be saved.
This is a great forum and we must do all we can to help Nigel keep it running smoothly.

On a lot of other forum I visit and some specialist sites the webmasters have a 'Donation' button or 'PayPal' button in case anyone feels they would like to contribute to what must be ever escalating costs. On the other sites I have seen this it has always been totally voluntary and there is never any pressure....it is just there.

This is probably my most visited place on the internet .... it rarely goes down, is always there and has introduced me to some wonderful people many of whom I now consider friends.

I am sure that I would not be the only one happy to click that button if Nigel popped one on the site.

Just a thought but what do others think?

I think an annual fee would be counter-productive. Many of our members just surfed in here to start with, found it was a great place and stayed around. If you had to pay before joining in, our number would dwindle and not be replaced so easily.
However, Tony's idea about voluntary payment is a great one. It could be a "suggested" fee, for those that can afford it. I know some are already paying high prices for internet access, some are very young, and some are on fixed income.
I would certainly kick in. This is like family.

Hey !!! thanks for the support. My wife has been suggesting I put a PayPal donation button up for a while now, so I think that I will do that. Any donations to server costs would always be gratefully accepted. But there would never be any pressure to donate, so those who are unable to won't ever have to. I have always felt ( since 1995 ) there was a need for a free keyboard community site like this online and will continue to provide it as long as I am able to.

But please don't change your posting habits because of what I said. A lot can be gained from seemingly casual social conversation between musicians. Don't avoid posting to keep your postings to a minimum. I was simply trying to discourage numerous frivolous postings. And thanks for understanding Mike and removing those postings. I have fixed your posting count for you under the new name. And I know how it is with the CA fires presently. I couldn't go to work yesterday because I work in the Simi Valley area and the freeways in and out had been shut down. Today I was able to make it in but the air was still thick with smoke and ash. Two of my workmates had had the fires burn right up to their houses but firefighters were able to prevent them from going up in flames.

Those firefighters really do an amazing job. We'd all be in big trouble without them.
