As most of you already know Tony Rome has just had his business wiped out by Hurricane Wilma in Cozumel. He and his family are OK fortunately but life for them there is very hard and Tony has to try and rebuild his life under very difficult circumstances.

If you can afford to help out please do. Tony is a close member of our online family and most of you regulars here know what a great friend he is and how he is always happy to help us out whenever he can. This is our chance to say thank you to him by clicking on the link below to put a donation directly into a PayPal account setup to help him. Please help make life for Tony and his family a lot less stressful than it is at present. And we know that Tony would do the same for any of us. You are a very special friend to us Tony.

Help Our Friend Tony

Tony Rome, a fellow musician/entertainer and contributor to several music
forums, lives in Cozumel, Mexico, an island paradise that was recently
devastated by hurricane Wilma. While his home and family survived the
hurricane's ravages, his restaurant, which was his primary source of income,
was completely destroyed.

Tony is making a valliant effort to begin anew, which at age 65 is difficult
at best. While he was able to salvage some of the restaurant's equipment,
most of the essential items were lost to the storm. He is currently seeking
funding to rebuild his establishment, a monumental task that will likely
take several months. In the interum, he needs to find a way to survive under
desparate circumstances. Therefore, I am soliciting donations for Tony and
his family to help them make it through the difficult times he now faces.
You can help by sending a donation of any amount to him via the above PayPal link.

Tony said "When I get back on my feet, I'll put on the biggest Synthzone Jam Session
for the folks who helped me that this island will ever see. God bless
everyone."

Mike,

PayPal is probably more secure than sending cash through the mail. I'll try to get Tony's mailing address in Mexico and email it to you in the next day or two. Keep in mind, however, that most everything in this part of Mexico has been destroyed by the storm, including the post offices and postal service vehicles. It will be several months before postal services are fully restored.

Cheers,

Gary

Hello Tony,
We're so glad to hear you again. I hope you can recover fast from this natural disaster. Reminded me of my younger years in my home country where typhoons, floods & earthquakes are normal occurences.
Anyway, pls. accept our small donations to help you & your family even in small way.

Thanks so much to all of you for helping Tony get his life back together. I've always known that we have the very best online community here at Synth Zone. And you've all confirmed that with your generosity. Whenever anyone here is in trouble the other members step up to the plate. We have a comradeship between us that I don't think can be found anywhere else online. Thanks so much to you all. I always knew you are all a very special group of friends.

I look forward to meeting you all for a big party/jam in Cozumel once this is behind us all.

Eric....Thank you ever so much....believe me, it all helps....they are talking about giving low interest loans to business men who have like me lost everything....are you ready for low interest...15% instaed of the 25-32% normally...and we would need a co-signer to guarantee the loan to the bank...
so much for Mexican Fema.....go figure...

Tony,

my wife and I are planing to come down to Playa del Carmen in the near future again.

You better have your restaurant up and going by that time so I can report to our Synthzone family where all the money is going.

No pressure there, but I'm looking foreward to some outstanding food.....

Good luck with your loan

I tried it again and again but PayPal doesn't work for me. I don't have any credit cards but I'm having a normal bank account. Why can't I transfer any money to our best friend in Cozumel???

If you give me a bank number and an bank account then I'll be able to transfer some money from my bank to your bank! Any ideas?

For modern world communication I'm still using my 1 bit bonfire system with its firewire III interface. It was delivered with an extra cover as a smoke/non-smoke switch. It has a Fire Stone BIOS and an Abacus CPU. The CMOS settings are chiselled in little stones. The graphic card I'm using is the Big Desert by Sahara with the great Fire Boost graphic chip. My system uses a 1.5 Gigagallon/s pipeline for higher bonfire activity. Hey, I want to be seen all over the world...

I just talked with Tony on the phone and he was hoping to send everyone individuals emails expressing his thanks. Unfortunately, his computer has a trojan that he cannot seem to get rid of, therefore, he reluctantly had to refrain from sending the personal emails for fear of corrupting the computers of those who have been so generous. He's working on trying to find a fix that would get rid of the computer's nasties, but because the trojan is relatively new, he has not been successful in finding a fix.

In his behalf, I would like to thank all of those individuals that contributed to the Tony Rome Fund, and give a special thanks to Nigel and Joe Waters for providing the links that made this possible.

Gary

So how is the cleanup going down there for you Tony? I'd imagine playing music is a lower priority at the moment than pulling things back together ( Though music always helps the spirit ).

Nigel.....if it weren't for MUSIC, I'd have no sanity....it's the only thing that holds us all together....we finaly have all of the big palapa down and cleaned up...waiting on proposals for the rebuild...
there is a great shortage of building materials here, what ever we have on the island now is being claimed by the township first and the big hotels on the beach....I have no idea how long before it starts to trickle down to the little guys..as son as I can replace the equiptment needed in the kitchen, I will reopen "A LA OPEN AIR", you
know, under the stars so to speak..we will do whatever it takes to survive...as bad as it was, it could have been much more devestating...thank God it wasn't....I will post more photos in the next few days.Nigel again, thank you and all of my SnythZone Family for all of your donations, prayers and support....all of it will be remembered and none will go unrewarded in some way..God
Bless you all and continue to be the best Family out there...

Although we've never met , you and your troupers sure seem like family, I bet if I "had" a dog and 7 cats and could afford a vacation you would take on the chore. If I was able,(and alot younger) I would come down and we'd put that building back up, bigger and better, I'm a retired general contractor, but can't swing a hammer no more, (can't hardly even swing a audience anymore he he) But you'll make it, hope the new building is more hurricane proof than the old......Cheers Pose

Tony,
Susan and I had planned to come see you this month to celebrate our 25th anniversary AND the end of her chemotherapy. Since the storm hit, we decided not to go anywhere and we will wait until you rebuild.

Hello, Tony!
Is your problem with the PC virus solved?
Can we exchange e-mails again without being anxious to infect our systems?
Regards, Danny

Yes Danny, It is resolved....however, while cleansing the virus, I've lost some important Windows Office files to use Word and Pub and a few other programs that I needed to make thank you notes for all of the wonderful folks that have helped me in this troubled time....waiting for an install disc for Office 2003 to reinstall all of my lost files...i tried to call you a few times but keep getting a busy signal..
I think it's our international lines....
