hi all, i PSR 3000 under test at the moment with a view to buying, but i have read here and in other places that the midjay is a good bit of gear too!! the question is has anyone played both, and could they give a recommendation, as to which one, in their opinion is better...in say the sounds and styles areas? unfortunately there are only MP3's available at ketronus.com plus a limited number of style demos, so its hard to make an informed decision....ANY comments are welcome (i have a controller keyboard to play the midjay if i go that way)
thanks
dennis

Hi Dennis

I had a Tyros a PSR3000 and a Midjay all at the same time. They are all three fine instruments in their own way. You will really need to get your hands on one and test it yourself to see if you like the styles, voices and OS and if it meets your individual needs.

Nobody can really tell you which one is better. It's a very individual thing. Many places have a 30 day trial. That would be the way to go.

As far as my opinion as to which one is better in sounds and styles, I'd have to answer it's really 6 of one and half dozen of the other.

thanks scott, yeah i sorta figured that, but as i am about 7 hours away by road from the nearest stockist, and they wont send one to me to try, i thought i'd ask here...styles/sounds on the 3000 are very good, and also the configurability seems very good..however i do like the concept of a module....anyhoo thanks
and to DNJ, i have already seen those posts, thanks....btw didnt you buy one of these? mebbe you could add some comment particularly if you did buy one as indicated in one of your posts to the topics you referred me to....

Hi Dennis

There must be someone who will ship you one with a trial period. You might do well to contact Ketron in Italy to see who else services your area.

Or, another way, which is what I often do, is to purchase one and try it out for a while. If not satisfied, I will sell it either on one of the forums or on ebay.

I did this with a Technics KN2600.

Just a couple more thoughts.

Best
Scott

That Midjay is one incredible little box. It really does the job AND to think it only weighs in at 7 lbs. That's one tough combination to beat.

thanks guys, i am leaning towards the MJ as i do want to play combi's of midi/mp3-wav with various different registrations (similar to the Songbook on the PA1X), i am just a bit concerned with a)the limited styles and b) more importantly, the minimal "super sounds" as opposed to the GM sounds on board the MJ(i like to use non GM sounds in midi's as they are so much better), also the harmonizer is an extra, which in australia is about $400, on top of the RRP of $2990....
but your comments are appreciated and valid..

Hi Dennis,
are you in Aust too?
Where's the dealer that you mentioned??
I bought my SD1+ in Sydney. I got a fairly good deal.

Hi Scott,
unfortunately our dealers don't let you trial stuff. It's amazing that over there you can actually try before you buy.

best wishes
Rikki
