Converting Master Tracks Pro to MIDI -- Without Master Tracks Pro?
I'll be honest when I say it's been about 10 years since I've really done anything with my music. But I'm wanting to get back into it.
Way back when, I used Master Tracks Pro to write my music and I have a lot of .MTS files on my drives. The problem is, I can't find my old software anymore, thus can't open these files.
Is there any way I can recover them? Since Master Tracks Pro is, I'm assuming, a fairly old program now and I'd much rather get into something like Sonar (or something else that maybe someone can recoment), I don't want to repurchase Master Tracks, and the demo I've seen won't allow me to save.
I'm not sure if this would work using the MTP demo: but is there maybe a way to play out in MTP through my MIDI out, then have that line go back into my MIDI and have Cakewalk (or something) record that signal?
Also...
So this doesn't happen again, what would be the best format to save and archive my work in? Would it be a good idea to simply save in my software's naitive format, and also as a MIDI1 file so that the MIDI will always be available if the software is not? And does the midi file actually save as much data as the software would?
Thanks much.
