Are you casual or duded up. Cowboy talk for dressing nicely. "He cleans up well," meaning looks real good when he washes all the cowshit and horse sweat off.

No, I really want to know.

Usually nice business casual (nice oxford/dressy polo shirt and pants)for most nursing home type gigs.

Most dances usually done with a sport coat / tie...

I climb into my tuxedo about 12 times a year for weddings...

No Jeans, T-shirts...ever...

Appearence is part of what I'm selling and they're buying...Be professional in every aspect of your business. Can't go wrong...

What should I wear if I sing Steve Earle, Hank Sr Jr III, Merle, Clapton, Beatles, Stones, Jerry Jeff and Leadbelly? Tux just don't seem quite RITE, as my friend Raymond says. Kinda rhymes with cat or riot, depending on how many beers.

Semilive,

If you look professional, sound professional and dress accordingly, then you will be considered as professional and command higher paychecks. Just because you're singing country/western tunes doesn't mean you must look like you just crawled out of a wine bottle--even it that's in the lyrics.

I think it depends on the type of gig/setting/occasion. My holiday jobs I wear a sport coat and jersey. If I new how to post pics here I would.

Heck, I was just kidding. Some of my gigs are like that and I don't seek advice for that. I was just making fun of some of the stuff I play. Dive bars.

OTOH, you'd look like an idiot if you wore something snazzy in there. I guess I could wear something like Porter Waggoner used to wear. Well, no, I couldn't. Those things cost a fortune.

I was asking about you OMB dudes.

For the more formal jobs, I wear a tux. In the summer, it's a white tux jacket with black pants, custom made vest, etc. Winter jobs is the black tux.

For the less formal parties, black slacks, satin shirt with matching tie and gold chain tie-clasp, and a custom-made vest.

The satin finish shirts wth tie and clasp are available from Burlington Coat Factory for about $20 and they really look great.

Heyhey, you guys be STYLIN'!

What would you wear if you played a bar? Never mind... you wouldn't play a bar.

If I could just invent something to truly take smoke out of the air...

I'd be rich and then I wouldn't have to hustle.

Bill,
I DO play some CW bars from time to time. What works well for me and also Hank is black pants, black vest, your choice of nice looking shirt. You can even wear a hat if you wish. This attire separates you from the customers yet doesn't seem prententious as as tux would in these places.
