Hello,

I have just tried the VA-5 and it looks like it doesn't recognize rootles chords.
For example:
F - B - E could be used as G7/13 but
in case of VA-5 doesn't sound nice.

Is it the same thing with VA-76 or it has
better chord recognition mode ?

Thanks !

Denis

Hi Denis: You are correct! Unfortunately 'none' of the Roland arranger keyboards (including the VA7) recognize rootless type chords. That is the reason I won't even consider a Roland brand arranger. Unfortunately, 'only' Yamaha, Technics and the Solton SD1 recognize rootless type chord voicings. I hope Roland, Korg, and GEM will see the 'light' and incorporate rootless chord recognition too. - Scott

Hi Denis,
I have to agree with Scott: the VA 7 (and the VA 76) are great instruments under many respects but do not implement rootless chord recognition.
:-(
(Anyway, I can live with that...)
