Hey all,
I rented a PSR 2100 because i was told by many that it was one of the best arragner workstations available. The going price is somewhere around $1200 or more. Do I really want to pay that much when I can get the Psr 2000 for like $900???
What does the 2100 offer that the 2000 doesn't???
And finally, what about the Psr1100??? Is that any good??? what do either of these have that the 1100 doesnt have?

The PSR 2100 has more User Memory, more Wav Rom, more Voices, more Sweet! Live! and Cool! voices than the PSR 1100 or PSR 2000, USB connection (so does the 1100). Other than that, it is basically the same animal as the PSR 2000. IF you want a "break out of the mold" Keyboard, do yourself a favor and get a Tyros. I own a PSR 2000 and it is a great little Keyboard but when I bought a Tyros my PSR 2000 has significantly shrunk in magnitude to what I thought a good Arranger Keyboard was. If you're short on dough, the PSR 2000 or 2100 would be an excellent choice though for a mid-range Arranger Keyboard.

Visit the PSR Tutorial and you'll be able to see quite a few comparisons of the new 2100. The 2100 has some more styles and voices, but the basic operation is exactly the same as the 2000. Here is the link:

I think you can get either keyboard cheaper than what you mentioned. I got my PSR2100 for less, and I've seen the PSR2000 for less.

Fran is ready to part with a "like new" demo 2100. Give him a shout.
Unless you sing or play guitar, the 1100/1000 will be almost identical in sound. The mic/line input it the biggst perk for me.

hey dave, about that mic line. you can hook up ur guitar and it will act as an amp, but am i able to record the guitar onto a track???

You can hook up the guitar, but it will not record directly onto the keyboard. The only way you could record is running it through the keyboard into your computer and recording the song as a WAV file, or recording the song as a midi file, then add an audion track before doing the final conversion. Bottom line is the keyboard's line/mic input is just an audio in--not a digital input.

If you are anywhere in the US, I agree. I think my local store has had the 2100 at 1099 ( or maybe even less ), and 2000s new can probably be found in the high 800's, used maybe in the 700 - 800 range.. give or take.

I didn't like the key feel on my 2000, but that is a personal preference. Other than that, I've never seen any board that comes close to the 2k / 2100 series in giving good value for the dollar. I miss the 2k for a lot of reasons, and if it had a more desirable key feel or I could have used a midi controller with less of a hassle, I'd still have it. Instead, I 'll probably spend the "big" Tyros bucks and give up the internal speakers.

Move slowly in that Tyros direction. After spending a few eeks with it, the key feel was not all that great for me, and the SIZE !!! Agggg Grrrr.......

Well, I've adapted from the Steinway to the PSR2000, and to the Tyros (wow, it's hard to believe that I've been performing on it for a year ago today now) and I'm still thrilled as ever with it. I personally find the Tyros keyboard action very responsive and a joy to play. For my small-medium sized gigs I utilize a Motion Sound KP-100S 'all in one' stereo PA, which elimates any need for using personal monitors like the Tyros MS01 speakers. Setup time is as quick & ez as with the PSR2000, but offers improved sound & styles and FAR better keyboard responsiveness which results in a lot more playing expression. Now if only Yamaha Japan corrects the Tyros foot pedal activated 'auto fill' problem, I'll be in 7th heaven. - Scott
