I happened to think of a question on High German (Hoch Deutsch) and Low German (Platt Deutsch).

I've heard 2 different stories on this. I heard that High German was spoken in the mountainous regions and Low German was spoken in the low lands.

I also heard the High German was spoken by the upper class and nobility while Low German was spoken by the common people or low class people.

So, Sheriff, what's the real deal on this one?? Inquiring minds want to know. hehe
