Fran ... thanks for that ...
While it's not in the same vein, I have a very short story for you that happened just today ...
I played golf today in a fund raiser my company held for the United Way ... on my way home I saw a car on the side of the road with its hood partially raised ... about 1/10 of a mile down the road I saw this young man walking ... now what do I do? .. Unfortunately, in this day and age we have to be careful someone isn't setting a 'trap' for us by pretending that their car broke down ... as I was getting closer to the walker I realized he was a pretty big guy, and if he had evil on his mind I was going to be in trouble ... I drove past him and took a look at him .. he seemed clean cut, wearing a tee shirt and bermuda style shorts ... I knew the walk to any gas staion was a long one from where we were ... I got a little past him and took a leap of faith - I stopped my car, backed up to him and asked if he needed help or a ride or something ... He told me that his car had overheated and a tow truck was on the way ... I asked if he needed anything else, he said no, and then thanked me "so much" for stopping ...
I didn't help, I didn't have a problem with a stranger, and I rode away feeling quite good about the fact that at least, I stopped to ask ...
