I just downloaded Paul Carman’s new CD –
Dream Themes.

The interplay of all the orchestral instruments on “
Across the Hills” was simply breathtaking. I felt I was listening to a group of studio musicians in a recording studio.
I was mesmerized listening to the realism of the female vocals on “
Celtic Dreams” and how authentic the violin sounded with the natural inflections. I could not believe my ears that all this was coming from an arranger.
I liked the interplay of the sweet piano and the swelling strings on “
Luminous Embrace.” It was magical when the female vocal came into the mix. The vibrato was natural and perfect.
The flute on “
Sailing Home” sounded haunted and ethereal. It reminded of the theme song from “My Heart Would Go On.”
“
Starlight Ascent” seems ready for a Hollywood Blockbuster Movie Theme.
The ballad on “
The Way We Used to Dream” sounded dreamy with Paul’s piano playing style.
My absolute favorite was “
Beneath the Stars.” This sounded like a quintessential ballad with the buildup using the screaming lead guitar.
This is Paul’s best work to date. He has shown how arrangers can be transformed from playing cover songs with factory styles to a sophisticated music composing tool.
I would highly recommend purchasing this CD for £9.99. It is a source of inspiration.
