In England (Not sure about Scotland, Wales & NI as they have their own control of the NHS resources) once your over the age, you are automatically sent a test kit every 2 years where you take some of your poo and then send it off to the lab, if something is found in the poo that could be some problem, then you are sent for a colonoscopy to make sure. (Having a colonoscopy unnecessarily is not recommended as it can cause more problems then it solves).

Ironically, even though the test is free (As is a colonoscopy if needed (It is Paid for out of general taxation), the amount of people that still don't bother is amazing.
