Time to ditch ROM Categories altogether. They are imho one of the major reasons younger players won’t touch something festooned with ‘Oldies’, ‘Samba/Bossa’ and ‘Ballroom’ buttons. And no ‘Trance’ or ‘Triphop’ or ‘Speed metal’.
Can you imagine how easy it would be to sell an arranger to a kid if the front panel reflected THEIR tastes..?
...on the other hand, from a manufacturer's point of view, who would you rather have for a 'target' market; and old geezer with with fond memories of 'oldies' and tons of disposable cash OR a kid with no job and no prospects living in his parents basement? Just sayin'
