Interesting point Gary. The only true stereo experience live would be a symphonic orchestra performance (depending on you seating).
Bass in a live performance is Omni directional, so panning is irrelevant. Depending on your live mix...I suspect pseudo stereo is the best you can get.

gee I didn't kn ow we had audio engineers here....most players are too lazy to carry two speakers as a OMB show on the road...but hey to each their own its only your sound in question right?......
for me Stereo always....but what do I know..
