I wasn't going to say anything about this again, but I thought some of you might relate to it.

I posted a while back that I have a great baritone voice, but it's not consistent. Sometimes it's noticeably weak and I can't project it.......unless I eat!

I experimented on a couple of jobs. I ate a single McDonald's hamburger exactly 30-60 minutes before the performance. It worked every time. My voice blossomed back into full bloom and I had complete control of it. That same thing happened every time I remembered to eat.

Next stop....my GP. He explained what probably happens with me and many others. The food going into the stomach causes the acid balance to change and some of the acid goes up the esophagus and approaches the throat.

Next stop......an ENT (ear, nose and throat). She said the same thing. The food going into the stomach changes the dynamics of the digestive system ultimately affecting your voice. Kind of like when you don't eat all day......you're voice gets very weak.

Anyhow, I don't care about digging any deeper than that. I now have a basic concept of what goes on with me and the solution is to just make sure I eat before a performance. Another thing I wish I figured out years ago. I'm hoping my next discovery is the winning Powerball numbers!
