you probably require a newer visual basic file. If the message box tels you which one (Mscomctl.ocx? or whatever) download the full installer and open the cab file with winzip and copy this file to your windows/system folder overwriting the older one. The program will then work again.

Unfortunately the installer is not fully debugged, and functionality of the program is the priority at the moment. The problems of the installer are quite seperate to the debugging of the actual program, if you see what I mean.
