I have the old PA1X that I have been more than happy with for the last 10 years . it has been upgraded by the Golden Entertainer Ram product that was around some time ago that my good colleague Wittid turned me on to. That was a great tip by the way Wittid !!

I have written and programmed literally hundreds of songs and song ideas on my keyboard hardrive.

I am coming into some money in the next few weeks and so will have about £4000 that I can spend on my self.

I am aware that my old PA1X cant last for ever, and i am scared that at some point in the future, it will fail on me . I dont want to move to yamaha although I am attracted to their sounds. But I need the fully fledged onboard sequencer and touchscreen . And roland, casio and Ketron are just not in the same league of Korg at present.

Anyway i would need to be able to transfer all my work to my new board (if or when that happens) .

So the question is , should I buy a new PA4X or pick up a cheaper PA3X in the next few months. The PA3X seems fairly stable and the 4X seems to still have some substantial bugs to work out.

Both Boards ,( I expect ) would be a substantial upgrade to my trusty PA1X I presume.

Or should I bank the money and wait until the 5X is available and bug test that . By the silence from Korg regarding fixing the existing bugs on the 4X, or any further updates , I suspect it is close to the end of its product life cycle and a new board is close to being finished (hopefully) .

I dont have to make any decsion desperately urgently but would value the opinion of the members of this board greatly . Especially those that use their instruments extensively and not simply to play styles or midi files.

I am especially to hear from those that have moved from the PA3X to the 4X and whether you feel the cost difference was worth the hit.

this next purchase is also likely to last me for another ten years so build quality is also a consideration (but not as big as sound quality , effects and programability).

best
wishes
