I think they're referring to the fact that no digital drums are going thru the amp. But according to Bernie it does a fine job with his BK9. I'm skeptical too, Even with a sub its seems too small but the idea is with the full surround sound it supposedly provides you don't need the killer volume. Much better for all involved to hear clearly without sonic bombardment. Heard a duo the other night and actually had to leave our seats at the bar and go to a far table. I'm getting older but these guys were out of control. And no one was dancing so you couldn't blame it on the heat of the moment. Couldn't talk to my wife next to me without yelling. Amazed no one complained.
I've never heard a Bose Compact either but some here say they can do dance music for young crowds and cover the gig. I just can't imagine doing Fireball or BLurred lines with an 8" woofer. Who knows, gotta hear it for myself.
