Dennis, I have the original iPad and very few holders fit it at all. I was using a GigEasy and it did fit with the cover on. As you discovered, the Hercules will not accommodate the cover. The Hercules is designed to be used in Portrait mode but it works ok in Landscape mode, the way I use it.
