Some of the suggestions you posted I have already, unsuccessfully tried. Much of this, however, I discovered has something to do with the processor. The AMD E2 processor seems to have some issues, while the good ol' boys at Intel found workarounds.

Some of the software is too old, and will not run, even in the compatibility mode. I guess my old school mentality "If it ain't broke, don't fix it" doesn't hold water with today's PCs and Windows7.
