The *.mem file is the actual Operating System file that gets loaded into the unit when you turn it on while holding down F10 and Unplugged initially for installation purposes. After the initial installation you may delete this file (it doesn't get used again) ... unless you have to re-install the OS at a later time so ... keeping it won't hurt either (it hardly occupies any room).

However, when you want to install a new OS, you need to delete the old *.mem file so AUDYA doesn't get 'confussed' as to which OS to install during the OS initialization phase!
