AUDYA 5 New pen Update. - 09/02/11 09:46 AM

I need to know if I can install the new pen updates into my Audya 5. It says 4.1a on power up. I have the concert Grand in the first location in piano bank. I just got the pen drive today from Frank and I tried to call AJ but He is very busy and may not be able to get back to me for awhile. Any info will be greatly appreciated.

In the instructions you will see to install 4.1b, which is in the pen. You are fine as long as you at least have 4.1a.

Just follow all instructions as written and you shouldn't have any problems except waiting around 2 hrs and 20 min.

Just press the "Disk" button.

When you´re in the root-directory ( "C:\" ) you´ll see them.

Mostly named like the actual os-version, so for me now "AUDY542B.MEM".

They seem to be important for the OS wink

But I don´t know what they´re exactly for...

I believe it is the old mem slot that is removed so that the update does not write to it instead of the new mem slot.

The *.mem file is the actual Operating System file that gets loaded into the unit when you turn it on while holding down F10 and Unplugged initially for installation purposes. After the initial installation you may delete this file (it doesn't get used again) ... unless you have to re-install the OS at a later time so ... keeping it won't hurt either (it hardly occupies any room).

However, when you want to install a new OS, you need to delete the old *.mem file so AUDYA doesn't get 'confussed' as to which OS to install during the OS initialization phase!

Hope this clares this up.

Thanks,

Thanks to you all and to AJ for the responce, I just want to make sure before I delete anything on a perfectly working Audya. The only .mem file I see is audya541a.mem in disk mode. So, is this the file to be deleted before the install. I went to disk mode and inserted the pen and nothing happened so I just wanted to be certain. Owning an Audya without you guys on this forum would be a real chalange. Thanks so much.

Yes.
Delete this file and replace it with the similar one found in the AUDYA 5's folder on your USB pen drive (audya542b.mem - AUDYA5 OS 4.2b is how it's interpretted).
Then follow the instructions.
Thanks,
AJ
