One of my genre favorites is retro jazz combo swing inspired arrangements of 'American standards'. I'm an especially big fan of
Peter Cincotti and
Jamie Cullum .
That said, I'm sure some of you remember Curtis Stigers as a rock-blues singer with the 90's hit
I Wonder Why , but Stigers has since switched to singing jazz standards, and this is the music genre I think he really shines, even more so than his earlier rock-blues material. Interestingly though that his commercial concert success now is primaryily Europe (esp Germany), perhaps because America's interest & appreciation for jazz is far less, he rarely has concert tours in the US now.
Another popular retro jazz combo setting artist I like is German singer Tom Gaebel. I find it intriguing how when he sings he sounds so convincingly American (aka American accent) and so much like Frank Sinatra.
This is the type of combo setting, style & 'the songs' I enjoy singing & performing & emulating on my Tyros2 arr keyboard
