I am a long time Yamaha Lover.
I have owned a Tyros 2 in the past which I sold years ago.

I now own an S910 and a Motif XS (currently got the XF on pre order).

I cant understand why Yamaha can not make a Tyros using the same casing and build quality of the Motif. Its almost as if these two boards came from two complete different companies.

The PSR S910 has the same (or VERY similar) build quality as the Tyros but at half the price making it more feasible. In Australia the street price for the current Tyros 3 or 4 is always $4,500.00 AUD whereas the S910 is around the $2,200.00 mark.

The Motif XS/XF6 are just on 4k which yes is worth it (or more worth it should I say) because it is a superior quality instrument. I have absolutely no understanding why the far better build quality (PRO) Synth from the SAME company is cheaper than the plastic Tyros... AND the Tyros doesn't even use the same sound engine of the Motif.

Motif uses AWM2 whereas Tyros/PSR uses AWM1.
AWM2 has the 'proper' uncompressed un-plastic sounding drum kits, basses, synth sounds, punchy etc etc.

I dont know why Yamaha cant simply use the Motif sound engine in the Tyros line.

Yamaha are in fact slowly starting to trickle down some of the synth voices from the Motif (SOME OF THEM) but having the extreme lack of voice editing functionality leaves it still very bland for professional quality synth production...

The PSR S910 does include some of the synth voices that are on my Motif XS which I have compared side by side in my studio and the Motif STILL sounds cleaner, crisper and punchier than the SAME voice in the AWM1 engine of the PSR.

Just an FYI for anyone who cares

Nick
