I have used this unit for several years and bought a shelf for it last year. I use it a little differently because of the length of the G70. I load my Bose and smaller items on the bottom, and put the shelf on the highest holes. This allows my keyboard to ride high, making it easy to lift it to the stand.

In my case, the shelf is great for keeping the keyboard off my other equipment and not having equipment sitting on my keyboard.
