We're on a private well for our water supply.
We noticed a metallic taste to the water today. I went to check the water softener to see if it had come unplugged or something. Power is fine, I looked into the brine tank and for the first time in my life saw standing water inside. The tank is more than 50% full with salt, but there's water in there.

I have zero clues about water softeners...Anyone have any idea what caused this, what I should do about it?
