Hi Arvon45-

What's the polyphony problem in the 2080? It has the same polyphony as the 1080. I had 2 JV1080's but I sold one for a good 2nd hand price just the other day and that money is going towards the new synthe. It looks like I will go for the XV3080 rather than the 2080. I tried the 2080 the other day and did not hear any grunge noise from the unit I was playing. But I must admit that for someone who is vision impaired (myself!), the XV's display (whilst not able to display graphical items such as effects routings, envelopes etc) is easier to read than the JV2080's or XP5080's display.

I've decided that the JV2080 is too similar in spec to the 1080 and really the 2 biggest differences are the amount of expansion board slots and the 3 efx in the 2080. The latter does not concern me too much and whilst I haven't played the XV yet, it looks like that with the improved samples, AD/DA's etc alot of what is in the session expansion board (which I might still get) is already in that synthe as well as alot of extra orchestral and drum stuff.

However, I still have a couple of days to make my final decision so a few more opinions would be much appreciated- thanks.

PS- Arvon- after I'm totally happy with my MIDI set up??????? Then I will look full on in continuing to spend my hard earned dollars on more recording equipment- either Mac with Digi 001 or soon to be released Yamaha AW4416 recorder and a couple of nice mics and some more outboard (mic pre etc).
BOY WHEN IS ALL THIS GONNA STOP????? Cheers.
