All points you made have cleared up some
areas for me. I understand that midi is just
a set of instructions, but as you say I am
a little dismayed by the fact I have no way to reproduce the patches from the the synth
on my PC.

I am pretty sure that Logic is not the best
choice for me with my experience of sequencer software. It seems I am stuck with
creating and playing soundfonts at the moment.
