Hi there. I have had the XP-80 for 5 years. I started to work with computer (cakewalk) and I find that both way are different, though I personally felt that sometimes the XP-80 "choked" the MIDI event very often. I also just purchased a XV-5080......ooola-la.....Superb-Sounding-Machine.

Anyway, if u ask me can the XP-80 be a central unit without any external device, it's a definitely YES. I've programmed for albums, jingles, demos on this unit without any external device(s) before I got the computer and the XV recently. Since I also work as a part-time lecturer in a college, after I did some simple demo on the XP-80, 7 of my students went to the dealer and bought the XP80 with 2 exp. board each! Can you see the amazing power of this machine?

Anyway, I like this forum a lot. Hope to know more of the XP/XV freak, like me.....
