I also use Apex's[I have two]..The V-stand sets up faster than the Apex..It is very stable, and if you sit[I do not]..It works better than the Apex..also pedal room..The Mic boom only has to be loosened[a few turns of the knob]...and turned slightly ..and it is off..Same with the shelf..

By the time you open up the Apex[slide out the bars]..open the foot bars and attach the bars..and attach and adjust the mic boom...You are already playing with the V-Stand..
