new in a town?....do your homework, use the greatest tool you have at your ready....Your PC!! Use your search feature and find all venues your music can be used for in your area...send out a nice PR package ...without a demo cd, it could hurt you in the end. Then after you mail them out YOU HAVE TO follow up each one about a week later, & talk to who ever you sent them too and give your pitch, explain what & how you do your music, that your new in town and would love to perform for them & why, if given the chance. REMEMBER, your objective is to MAKE THEM SEE & HEAR YOU YOU PLAY, this is what SELLS YOU!! Most importantly be honest & be everything you offer AND MUCH MORE! Remember if you get your shot you wanna impress your client two fold & you get the gig impress your audience even more ....because in the end you only get the ONE shot.....do good and you continue & it will evolve and snowball......screw up, decieve your clients, & it will also snowball but the WRONG way which in turn will spell disaster..wanna be lazy? and you'll end up if at all in the worst of venues.
Remember there is alot more to all this but I hope I have made my point, business is business or should I say Music is MUSIC!
Good Luck
