There are two XLR adapters that terminate into 1/4-inch plugs, only one of which will work. The one that terminates into a 1/4-inch mono will work. The one that terminates into a 1/4-inch stereo will not work. Additionally, Yamaha's wiring diagram for the adapter cable that is posted on their site will not work--the pins on the XLR are incorrectly numbered. Pin #3 is always the hot pin on the XLR and should connect to the tip of the 1/4-inch plug. Pins #1 & #2 are both grounded and connect to the sleeve.
