Gary, the Crown might sound like the Sennheiser, but the Sennheiser doesn't sound like the SM58. They are way apart. I have to change my settings dramatically when I change from SM58 to the 855.
Basically the 855 sounds much like the Shure SM87, a much more expensive and responsive mic, and I e.q. them much the same. In fact neither needs much e.q. at all.
I also use a Samson R11 some, and, because of the tremendous amount of proximity effect, almost all the bass must be rolled off.
