I agree that finding the lightest (yet strong with sufficient padding & protection) case possible is #1 in my book. I checked out the ProTec Cases as well and they are even HEAVIER & larger. Having wheels built into the case makes it a lot easier to transport and worth the added weight imho. After doing considerable research, I'm convinced that the Kaces Porter is probably the lightest & smallest case (with wheels) which also provides adequate protection for gig transport. The lighter weight bags (soft thin foam padding only) don't provide adequate protection or strength to support the KB in my personal opinion. On the other hand, All the hard cases (SKB brand, etc) I know about are a LOT heavier than the Kaces Porter III case. Just my opinion. - Scott
