Wow talk about coincidence, I bought my D880 at a Mars closeout in Miami years ago, and for me nothing I have tried comes close. certainly not the sm58 (which i always carry for singers sitting in-it's universally accepted and so durable). I went for a hi-end Sennheiser for a while afterward, but found it actually too good. too uncolored, too smooth. Reviews in Keyboard Mag years ago rated the D880 as a very "sexy" mic w/high coloration..I like that..
