If you want the harmoniser to read chords from midi songs, you will have to set the chord to a channel number. Sometimes it's one, sometimes five, or ??? It can vary with the song.
I don't remember the "keyboard" setting that you have to off. That doesn't sound right, but I will check when I bring the KB into the house.
