I used to have a "home made stand" that worked great for me.
It is very simple, I bended a piece of aluminum or sheet metal in the shape of a sheet/book holder with a ledge on the bottom.
Drilled a hole in the top and mounted it on a standard mic pole.
Cheap, very sturdy and you can make it in any size you want to.
