The key to what you're trying to do lies with the MIDI/CONFIGURATION menu. Since Cubase will automatically re-channelize your output channel according to the settings of the currently selected track, you only ever need to set the SK up to transmit on one channel only. The easiest way to do this is to set up a system which receives on 15 channels and transmits on 1, (you can add additional tracks later if you wish).

Try this:

1. Create a new new song by selecting an empty song, select RECORD from the pop-up and then turn off the record button.

2. Set all 16 tracks to KEY-PLAY mode.

3. Go to MIDI/CONFIGURATION and turn off the little keyboard icon for every track except 16, (you should now hear only one sound when you play).

4. For track 16, leave the keyboard icon turned on but turn off both MIDI IN, (on the left) and INTERNAL SOUNDS (to the right of TRK).

Save this configuration - press STORE and then ENTER.

So here's what you now have; one track which will send midi when the keyboard is played but will not directly trigger any of the internal sounds, and 15 tracks which will play only when they recieve midi. You never need to change the transmit channel of track 16 becuase Cubase does this for you. The instrument is functioning as both a controller keyboard AND a keyboardless sound module.
