I agree I dislike styles that sound unrealistically 'big'. I would MUCH rather have a great tight rhythm section and add the 'big' myself if I need it. Yes, I know you can always mute parts, but usually the rhythm section reflects the whole style, the bigger the arrangement, the simpler the rhythm parts get, not what I'm looking for......
