I myself haven't actually tried it on the Tyros either, but Beakybird (Larry) is able to accomplish this on his PSR2100/PSR3000, using a generic 'mono switch' foot pedal (FC5) in conjection with a: "Switch and MIDI Controller Unit" manufacterered by TomScarff:
