When I first got my XD3 I also missed aftertouch so I edited some of the (mainly guitar) voices with delay vibrato as these were the voices that I noticed most as on most other voices there was natural sampled vibrato.

It's either that or diving for the wheel I'm afraid if you want maximum realism. If you use the pitch wheel for realism as well you will soon get used to "playing the wheels"
